Wilson BUTT, born in Montgomery County, Indiana March 7, 1827. Went to California 1849 and returned 1854 via Nicaragua. Place of departure for Montana, Missouri; route traveled, across the plains via Colorado; arrived at Bannack, July 10, 1863. Occupation: farmer and stock raiser. Last address, fish Creek. Deceased.
Note: He is buried in Fish Creek Cemetery (died 6-12-1898) Whitehall, Jefferson County, Montana. There is a picture of him and his stone on findagrave.com.
